Yes. Rise Entertainment is a one-person business, and that person is me, Ryan. There’s no roster of DJs and nobody else is sent in my place. The person you plan the music with is the person who plays your event, so the details you share along the way go straight to the one who needs them.

Yes. I DJ events anywhere on Vancouver Island, including Victoria, Langford, Duncan, the Cowichan Valley, Lake Cowichan, Nanaimo, Comox, Tofino and Ucluelet. Include your venue when you get in touch and I’ll confirm the travel details in your quote.

Yes. Before your event, you and I plan the music together. I’ll ask you about the songs you want to hear, any that belong to particular moments, and a do-not-play list of anything you’d rather skip. If you have thoughts on guest requests during the event, tell me and I’ll plan around them.

As soon as you have a date and a venue. Summer Saturdays are popular for weddings and December fills up with Christmas parties, so those dates can go early. It’s still worth asking about a date that’s closer. Call or send a message and I’ll let you know if I’m free.

Yes. I MC and make the announcements, and I bring microphones for speeches and toasts. While planning, I’ll ask for your running order and the names I need to get right, like the wedding party and anyone giving a speech.

A rough timeline is the most useful thing: when guests arrive, when food is served, when any speeches or special moments happen, and when you want dancing to start. Add a handful of songs you love and any you never want to hear. I’ll ask you about the rest from there.

Tell me about the space when you book: where the music would go, where the nearest power is, whether it’s covered, and how equipment gets in. I’ll also ask about any venue rules on setup times or sound levels, so there are no surprises on the day.

Outdoor events on the Island are worth planning carefully. The big questions are power, cover for equipment if it rains or the sun is strong, and how far sound will carry to neighbours. I’ll ask you about the power source, shelter and any local or venue rules when you book. An indoor or covered backup plan is always a good idea.

For school dances and proms, I’ll go over the school’s guidelines with the organizers before the night. For weddings and family parties with kids or grandparents in the room, tell me how clean you want the music to be and I’ll plan for it. Your do-not-play list covers anything else.

Weddings, corporate events, Christmas parties and school dances have set prices, all on the pricing page. Private parties and community events vary too much for one price, so I quote those. When you check your date, tell me about your event and I’ll confirm the price.

Start by checking that I’m free. Once you have your quote, I’ll explain how to confirm the booking, including any deposit and when payment is due. Ask as many questions as you need along the way. It’s much easier to sort out the details early than in the week of your event.

Yes, I have insurance coverage. If your venue has insurance requirements for vendors, let me know when you check your date.
