Before the wedding, I’ll guide you through the music planning from start to finish. I’ll ask about the songs that matter to you, the artists you both love, and anything you never want to hear. That becomes the plan I work from on the day.

You don’t need to pick every song. Choose the key moments and a handful of must-plays, and leave the rest to me so the dance floor can follow the crowd.

• Ceremony songs, if I’m playing the ceremony too
• First dance, parent dances and the last song of the night
• How you’d like guest requests handled

Each part of a wedding needs something different. If you’d like me to play the ceremony as well, it needs music timed to the walk and quiet enough for vows to be heard, and I’ll confirm whether that’s included. Cocktail hour and dinner want a softer background, so people can talk without leaning in.

Once the formalities are done, the room changes. I watch the dance floor, see what’s working and adjust as the night goes, mixing in your requests and keeping clear of your do-not-play list.

Grand entrances, speeches, the cake cutting and the first dance all run on cues. I’ll ask for your timeline early and check who else is involved, such as a planner, a venue coordinator or your photographer, so everyone is working to the same order of events.

I’ll MC and handle the announcements, and a microphone for speeches is part of my setup, so there are no surprises on the day.

Vancouver Island weddings happen in community halls, vineyards, farms, backyards, lodges and on the beach. Outdoor ceremonies are lovely, but they bring questions about power, wind, shade and what happens if it rains. Share your setup and your backup plan early so the music moves with you.
