Plenty of West Shore parties happen at home, on a deck or in a yard with the neighbours a fence away. That changes how the night should sound. Early on, the music can be background for mingling and food. Later, if the crowd wants to dance, it can lift, while still keeping an eye on the time and the street.

For a home party I’ll ask you where the music should go, where the nearest power is, and whether there’s cover if it rains. If there’s a carport, a garage or a pop-up tent, mention it and I’ll let you know what works.

West Shore receptions happen in all kinds of places, from community halls and event spaces in Langford and Colwood to rural properties in Metchosin and the Highlands. Wherever yours is, the evening needs a clear shape: dinner music, speeches that people can hear, then a dance floor that fills rather than trickles.
