A lot of Duncan celebrations happen in halls: service club halls, church halls, sports clubhouses and community rooms. They’re practical and good value, but they vary a lot. Some have a stage and plenty of outlets, while others are one open room with a kitchen at the back and a single plug on each wall.

Hall rentals usually come with a fixed pickup and drop-off time for the keys. I’ll ask you for those times, the setup window and the name of the person who looks after the hall, so load-in and load-out fit inside the rental.

• Hall access time and when the room has to be cleared
• Where the outlets are, and which circuits the kitchen uses
• Where the head table, speeches and dance floor will be
• Any rules from the hall on volume or finish time

Couples often hold the ceremony somewhere scenic in the valley, then bring everyone into town for dinner and dancing. That works well, but guests need a little time to travel and settle. I’ll ask about your timeline so there’s music when the first cars pull in, and so the music for dinner, speeches and the first dance follows the order you want.

Duncan crowds tend to span every age, from kids running around to grandparents who want one slow song. The music plan starts with your must-play and do-not-play lists, and on the night I read who’s on the floor and adjust.

Duncan is where many valley students go to school, which means school dances, grad events and team banquets. For those, the school or organizer’s rules come first: clean edits, request limits and a firm end time.

Fundraisers and staff parties usually have a program to run around, such as a dinner, a silent auction, a few speeches or a draw. I’ll ask for your run sheet so the music makes room for each part and picks back up when it’s done.
